Colorectal Cancer Prevention

Colorectal Cancer Prevention

Colorectal cancer is one of those cancers people don’t want to talk about, but it is a very important topic.  Not only is it possible to detect colorectal cancer early, but it is possible to prevent colorectal cancer.  In addition colorectal cancer has good survival rates especially if it is detected early.

American Cancer Society has launched a project to reach 80% by 2018.  This means that 80% of the population that is appropriate for colorectal cancer screening would receive it.  This campaign could prevent 277,000 colorectal cancer cases and 203,000 deaths by 2030 nationwide.  Here in Atlantic and Cape May County over 1,000 people are diagnosed with colorectal cancer in a five year period.

The Cape Atlantic Coalition for Health wants to teach the public about colorectal cancer; therefore we are having two workshops in our local communities on colorectal cancer.  This will give the public an opportunity to learn more about colorectal cancer, how to prevent colorectal cancer, screening techniques and how to get help with colorectal cancer screening if they are uninsured/underinsured.

Join us for a presentation to discuss colorectal cancer, get your questions answered and learn more about colorectal cancer and you.
