How does Sunscreen Work?

How does Sunscreen Work?

Have you ever wondered how sunscreen works?  This FDA video came out when the labeling changed on sunscreen bottles back in 2012.  Although getting a little dated, the video does a great job explaining how sunscreen works and what your sunscreen bottle should say.  Check it out…

Do you know how to apply sunscreen?  You may be surprised…

  • Apply 30 minutes before going outside.
  • Reapply every two hours (more often if wet or sweating).
  • Apply liberally – it takes a shot glass worth to do your whole body.  Most people do not use enough.

Anytime you are outside your skin needs protection… even on shady days.  Be sure to seek shade, wear sunglasses, and cover your skin especially during peak hours.  Remember that any color (tan or burn) is skin damage.

Enjoy your fun in the sun while protecting your skin!
