How Is Your Colon Looking?

March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month, and doctors are warning that cases of colon cancer are increasingly being diagnosed in younger adults. Colon cancer is now the second leading cause of cancer death, making early detection and screening critical. Dr. Ronald Hsu, medical director of the endoscopy center at Sutter Roseville, says regular colon cancer screening can help detect the disease early, when treatment is most effective. Health experts recommend that men and women begin screening at age 45, though testing may start earlier for people with higher risk factors.
